Please introduce yourself

I'm Lisa, 26 years old, and I work in reinsurance billing at HDI Global. During my business studies in Hanover, I got to know HDI as an employer. First I worked as an intern, then as a student trainee and wrote my bachelor thesis in cooperation with the company. After that, a suitable full-time position was found for me. Otherwise, I originally come from a village near Osnabrück and have now been living in Hanover for almost five years. In my free time, I love to take pictures and travel as much as I can with my own camper van and dog.

What does your day-to-day work look like?

Basically, we settle obligatory and facultative reinsurance contracts with the partners in the reinsurance settlement. The main part of my job is the processing of the manifold inquiries from reinsurers. In addition to reviewing these varied issues, regular activities regarding the monthly or quarterly financial statements are also part of my daily work. The almost daily exchange with my team to coordinate issues and clarify open questions is also an important component.

What do you like about the insurance industry?

For me, the insurance sector is still new and exciting, as I had virtually no contact with insurance companies both during my training and in the course of my studies. It was only with my internship that I gained insight into the insurance world. It is a very exciting and diverse industry that I am only just beginning to get to know. Especially an area as specialized as reinsurance holds some challenges, but you can learn a lot from them.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The mixture of regular activities as well as varied inquiries is what makes my job special. Every day is different - there are always special issues, so you never stop learning. I find it particularly interesting how closely you are involved in major events. You see, even if only in numbers, the damage caused by an environmental disaster. What I particularly like about my job is working together and exchanging ideas with my colleagues, as well as the high degree of flexibility offered by the current hybrid work concept.
