We are committed in a sustainable way - this benefits not only our clients but also our employees. We offer them an environmentally friendly infrastructure: In Germany we work 100 percent carbon-neutrally, for example by drawing our energy from green electricity providers. We reduce everything that we cannot avoid, and it is only in a last step that we compensate.

Our employees can contribute decisively to this, for example by using a job ticket subsidized by us for commuting and in their leisure time. This is not only friendly to your wallet but also to the environment. In order to promote a well-balanced work-life balance, we comprehensively enable our colleagues to work in a mobile manner and offer them flexible working hours models. This sounds interesting? What do we deal with as a sustainable employer

Climate neutral by 2030

The HDI Group is committed to a triad of avoiding, reducing and offsetting emissions. Since 2020, we have been a member of the Alliance for Development and Climate and have committed to reducing our own carbon footprint and investing in climate protection projects. For unavoidable emissions, we support compensation projects: For example, promoting sustainable forestry in Brazil and Indonesia. In 2020, 26,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions from the German sites were neutralized in this way. We are working consistently toward our goal of achieving climate neutrality in operations across the Group by 2030.

HDI Group promotes climate-friendly electromobility

Since November 2020, enercity's 1,000th electric charging point has been located in front of the HDI Group's corporate headquarters in Hanover. HDI is thus making an active contribution to environmental friendliness and sustainability. Customers, guests and employees have already been able to charge their e-cars at a total of 19 charging stations at HDI since 2017. By the end of this year, HDI plans to double this capacity - in line with our goal of operating on a 100 percent CO2-neutral basis by 2030.

Contribution to the energy transition through infrastructure investments

From rail networks and fiber-optic expansion to universities and wind or solar farms. At the end of 2020, the infrastructure portfolio of our parent group Talanx already included 53 projects. Projects spread across 12 different European countries. How the projects contribute to the Group's sustainability goals and how Talanx contributes to ecological power generation and the energy transition is illustrated in this article by three project examples.

We start this journey of discovery through the infrastructure universe of Talanx in the northeast of Saxony-Anhalt, near the Altmärkisch village of Mahlwinkel, where we visit a wind farm with 20 wind turbines.

Then we continue to Spain to the solar park "Bienvenida", which since December 2020 supplies up to 80,000 households with ecological electricity.

To then arrive in France, where Talanx is participating in the expansion of more energy-efficient fiber optics through two major infrastructure projects.

30% less CO2 in bond and equity holdings

The aim is to reduce Talanx's carbon footprint in its bond and equity portfolios by 30 percent. And this by the year 2025. For this target, the emissions of the investment portfolio in the Group were determined for the first time.

As a sustainable employer, the HDI Group not only obtains energy from green power, but also makes its contribution to the energy transition through infrastructure investments.

The health of our employees is important to us. We promote it through preventive measures and a broad range of sports programs – from aerobic via back pain prevention courses and yoga to Zumba.

Mobile in an eco-friendly way

Depending on where our colleagues work, we subsidize their monthly bus and train ticket by the job ticket. They may use the job ticket also in their free time.
